Mashed Potatoes

A very simple, five ingredient mashed potato recipe.

  • 4 gold potatoes, roughly the same size if possible peeled or skin on (whichever is preferred)
  • 1/2 milk or cream
  • 3-4 T butter
  • Kosher salt and black pepper


  • Place potatoes in boiling water for 40 minutes or so until soft when poked with a fork. Drain water, then mash.
  • Add butter. Mix to melt butter. Then stream in milk and mix.
  • Season with salt and pepper to taste. At least a couple large pinches of salt and a handful of grinds of pepper.
